Welcome! This site collects documents related to the history of Lewinsville Presbyterian Church in McLean, Virginia, its members, and neighbors. The collection focuses mostly on the church's founding era (c. 1820-1860), the roles of enslaved people and enslavers in the early congregation, and how the American Civil War and its aftermath affected the congregation and surrounding community. To see the documents collected so far, click on "browse" in the menu at the top of the page.
The collection is a work in progress; contributions and suggestions are welcome. To contact the creator of this site, Cathy Saunders, see the "about" page.
